Role Overview
As a senior product engineer at Caplight, you’ll work full stack on products from conception to delivery to customers. This is not a typical frontend engineering role — at times, in this position, you will also wear the hat of a designer or product manager. You’ll work alongside a team of talented engineers, but will frequently collaborate with our co-founders, our designer, and our business development team to bridge the gap between ideas and code.

Role Responsibilities
- Architect and implement full-stack features: Bring designs of pages, features, and workflows to life by designing the underlying data model and building the necessary components (frontend & backend)
- UI Implementation: Implement pixel-perfect UI components in React & Tailwind
- Solutioning using Design-Thinking: Brainstorm creative solutions to problems we want to solve for our customers or other enhancements we want to make to our platform. This will require gaining an in-depth understanding of Caplight’s market and business. You don’t need to be a Figma pro, but be ready to do some sketching, wireframing, and user-flow diagraming
- Frontend project management: Break apart product specs, Figma designs, or sales-team requests into a discrete set of engineering tasks, identifying and eliminating any ambiguities
- New technology exploration: Work closely with our CTO to identify opportunities to add new technologies or libraries to Caplight’s tech stack and create PoCs for the team to evaluate
About you:
- 🌉Located in the SF bay area and eager to work in-person in SF at least 3 days per week (531 Howard St)
- 🏎️ At least 2 years of experience at an early stage startup or a materially successful side project where you led the development of a software product from 0 to 1
- 🧑💻 At least 6 years of professional experience in a full-stack or frontend-heavy role. Strong proficiency with Typescript, React, GraphQL, and NodeJS. Ideally, also some experience with Google Firebase, NextJS, and functional programming.
- 🎨 Visually strong, with good design taste and product sense. Might have been a designer in another life.
